刚果民主共和国刚果中部省马塔迪的局势十分严峻。刚果河洪水导致负责该地区供水的上市公司REGIDESO的集水机房被淹。直接后果是，马塔迪的居民发现自己没有饮用水供应。
马塔迪 REGIDESO 负责人 Théodore Ngandu 解释说，在正常情况下，该公司使用两台潜水泵运行，将水输送到处理厂，然后由处理厂将水泵回给消费者。然而，由于机舱进水，运营中断。
REGIDESO 制定了部门分配计划，为居民提供最低限度的水。然而，由于技术限制，不可能同时为所有马塔迪提供服务。刚果河退去后，机舱可以恢复，情况应该会有所改善。
这场供水危机凸显了基础设施在气候灾害面前的脆弱性。地方当局必须采取措施加强集水和分配系统并使之现代化，以确保增强对河流水位变化的抵御能力。
与此同时，马塔迪居民在获取日常生活必需的资源方面必须面临巨大困难。必须采取紧急行动，确保在最低条件下供水，同时提高公众对经济和合理管理这一宝贵资源的认识。
